The picture above depicts my new novel ‘The Passion’ which is the second book in the Dragonseyrie Series.

The year is 1820.  Britain is a powder keg. Cries for reform are leading the authorities to fear the possibility of armed rebellion.

Driving a herd of horses through the old drove roads of Scotland is Eilidh Ruadh.  Though she rides in the mud and the rain alongside her foster family and Duncan Lovell, her fathers battle hardened ex-Batman,  –  she is no ordinary traveller.  Eilidh is the dispossessed daughter of the late Laird of Ardgour, cast out by her mother, comforted by her horses and the mystical connection she has to the seals who flock to greet her as she rides along the  coast.  Bereft of her homeland, she travels towards an unknown future.

But this is no ordinary journey, as they travel down, Hamish, one of Duncan’s sons, receives the gift of the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in unknown tongues.  As they travel the long dangerous miles south, Duncan uses this time to explain Jesus’s message of love, sacrifice and ultimate grace, preparing his son for his impending baptism.

Yet Eilidh carriers a heavier burden than the perils of the road:  she possesses the Sight, and she is bound by a prophecy that constrains her whole life.  By day and night her mind is bound by Visions of The Earl of Hindley, a Corinthian who she has never met, yet who is inextricably woven into her destiny.

While Eilidh travels south with her horses, the Earl is trapped in the dangerous bubble of high  society.  Decried as a murderer, and hounded by scandal,  he seeks distraction with the game of fisticuffs, duels, and scandalous spectacles where courtesans race horses for entertainment.

Set against the emotionally charged backdrop of Holy Week, as the world ponders the ultimate sacrifice, betrayal and resurrection of Easter, these parallel lives are set on a literal collision course.  As the  dispossessed daughter of Ardgour brings her herd to the gates of the aristocracy, the subconscious tether connecting her to the Earl fractures into reality.

Will her Visions be enough to save him from his impending doom – or  is he merely part of the prophesy designed to shatter her life forever?

Divine grace. Ancient heritage. A changing world
